DSS Chair by Charles&Ray Eames (red orange)
DSS Chair by Charles&Ray Eames (red orange)
This is the Dining Sidechair Stacking (DSS), a masterpiece by Charles & Ray Eames, the greatest American designers of the 20th century and an essential piece of American design history.
This product was produced in the 1960s and was the first chair material to use Fiberglass, rather than the Molded Plastic form produced today.
The shell, made of reinforced glass fiber called fiberglass, has a soft fiber texture on the surface, and as time passes, it ages naturally and the texture of the fiberglass is revealed, adding to its beauty. Even in mass-produced chairs, the fiber grain is not all the same. Each Dalla chair has its own unique pattern, and many people seek out vintage models because of the appeal of this material.
This model has long been loved especially in places such as government offices, libraries, schools, and hotels due to its functionality and space efficiency, as the chairs can be connected horizontally using the rings on the sides of the legs, and they can be stacked for storage.
This chair, which provides functionality, sturdiness, and, above all, a comfortable sitting experience, while also serving as a design object, embodies the ideals of the Eames couple, who pursued the best design based on simplicity.
